These gorgeous vintage earrings are beautifully designed. They feature large created color change stones and pretty floral solid 14K yellow gold settings for pierced ears. I showed these to a jeweler freind of mine and he said they could be color change sapphires due to the light blue color they can exhibit. But could also be synthetic Alexandrite as well. I own several different Alexandrites and none ever exhibit blue. Either way you'll love them for their exquisite beauty and you won't be sorry!
The settings are heavy and well crafted having a unique design with little flowers all the way around with ribbed ring dividers at four points with the prongs that hold in the stones. The stones are highly faceted giving the stones depth and sparkle. They have very good color change with lovely teal blue in natural daylight, changing also to light blue, blue/gray, lavender and down to deep purple depending on the light source. Photos show the earrings under natural daylight bulbs, incandescent, florescent and the last one was taken on a window sill with natural daylight.
So much nicer than my photos can possibly show!
Not only are they gorgeous they are in a size to dazzle and be noticed. Each stone is about 10.8mm or 4.5 carats for a total of 9 carats. Together they have a weight of 6.8 grams. The settings measure 3/4 inch in diameter with a drop length of 1 inch. The earrings are not hallmarked other than the clutches which are marked 14K but have been tested as solid 14K yellow gold. My guess is these originally had screwbacks due to their age and someone replaced them with posts for pierced ears.
Lovely condition with a few tiny nicks to the stones that can only be noticed with magnification. I noticed one flaw to one of the ribbed dividers, it appears that it either was cast incorrectly or perhaps a jewelers torch melted it a little. Not noticeable unless pointed out but done so for accuracy.
Absolutely stunning earrings you will truly treasure....these are just that beautiful!
