This marvelous pendant is made from a slice of genuine elephant ivory, pre-ban era with tapered smooth edges. Then in the art of scrimshaw a scene has been carefully etched into the surface and filled with color for contrast. There is some writing to the side but I have no way to translate. Measures about 2 1/4 X 2 1/8 inches and is 1/4 inch thick. Close up shows the cross hatch pattern. Guaranteed genuine elephant ivory. All it needs is a long gold chain to show it off beautifully. Near mint condition with very light yellowing patina due to age.
