It has six claw prongs to hold it securely. The profile of the woman from what I can tell is a separate piece but also green glass and beautifully detailed. Looking closely with a loupe you can see it is painted with a black enamel gloss paint, not after manufacture, it was originally made this way. Nice heavy piece with a good thickness of glass, it measures 2 1/2 X 2 inches. I'm showing it on a full size mannequin so you can judge how it would look when worn. It would be more beautiful with a black blouse I think. Quite a dramatic piece in excellent condition. There is dark patina overall with some dark spots on the back. The glass is wonderful free of cracks and only a couple of very tiny flea bite flake like chips to the extreme edge. Without a loupe you'll never notice. A beautiful brooch for your cameo collection.
