The bird is most likely a pheasant. Measures 3-1/8" x 2-3/8" x 3/4" with 3 sections having small compartments for holding herbal medicines, coins and other small items. The braided cord has a simple round Ojime bead to open or to hold the compartments together. This bone is dense and hard with a fine polish and with very minimal holes that bone usually shows and has nice marbling. Beautiful piece. Very good condition comes with a pouch for safe storage.
