I just love these wonderful earrings! Made by the Mexico City artist "Zevahc" (Chavez spelled backwards according to Hougart, Little Book of Mexican Marks).

These are well crafted earrings, with strong prongs holding the little carved fish. They have a modernist look with silver concave oval setting and the fish merrily blowing sterling bubbles. Condition is good with just normal usage. Notice the concave part with the fish is sterling silver. The screwback findings are not, they are most likely alpaca (nickel silver). These are very unusual and quite striking pieces of Mexican Silver (circa 1945). Hallmark : Zevahc Hecho en Mexico D.F. (Distrito Federal).925. There are some other intials next to the .925 on each side but I can't make them out. These measure 1" x 3/4" and weigh 13.5 grams.
