Has an overall lovely patina, evident cross hatch, striated lines. The crescent has a high polish and has carved ribs at each end, with an almost boomerang look. Thoughtfully designed to lay around the neck going with the curve so it fits, tapers and wears comfortably. It is reversible since the design is the same on both sides with the carved ribs and high polish. Most of the beads average about 8.7mm with twelve smaller 6.8mm and then six that are 3.9mm. At the back are two bars to hold and separate the rows evenly. Ends with a silver clasp that simply hooks through the other side to hold. Guaranteed authentic.
Wears close to the neck, measures about 15.5" long at the shortest row of beads. The crescent measures about 1-1/2" x 1-1/8" and is 1/4" thick. Pieces like these are never to be found again and should be cherished. Would be a good candidate for re-designing, Scrimshaw or repurposing if too small for you to wear. Simply wonderful!
