From Mexico circa 1930's-40's. The pendant measures approx. 2" in diameter, along with the inlay are small pieces of abalone for a bit of color and interest. The pendant hangs from a center carved bale that has a sailboat inlaid. The other 8 carved tortoise pieces are inlaid with prawns, anchors, octopus and seahorses, made of the same variegated shell and linked with silver-color wire links. The necklace length is approx. 18.5", and it weighs 14 grams. This jewelry was popular tourist souvenirs for travelers to exotic islands and beaches. Offered 'as found' in excellent estate condition. Beautiful piece!
