Each panel of this necklace is a carving with scenes of Pagodas, long foot bridge, mountains, water, plants, sun, birds. The last piece on the right side of the necklace is the only one not sure of, seems could be a carved piece of fruit like a Mango. May have been a souvenir piece. No markings in any way as to the maker or silver content. Been tested to be at least sterling but could be a bit higher. The clasp has a pretty design and all the pieces of silver are so very expertly soldered.
Measures 17.5" long. The panels are 1" x 5/16" and are slightly domed and completely hand carved. Overall weighs 20.8 grams.
Has overall lovely patina and deep dark tarnish. There are no cracks or chips to the carved panels. The panels are not glued in, they are framed in silver that holds them in. I did notice one panel seems slightly smaller than the others so it is a bit loose and can move around in the frame. But it does not come out and seems pretty secure. Pieces have some kind of a clear finish to the back to protect the carving where it would lay against the skin. It is peeling off in a few places. You can see the grain of the carvings on the reverse side as well as the front. Fantastic piece for your collection.
