Looking at them closely they appear Amber like but believe them just to be plastic of some sort, not really sure. Added I am sure for aesthetics just to give them a finished look. They have been added using a metal pin inserted into the tortoise shell. These measure about 6-1/2" including the gap and are about 1/8" wide. Fairly flexible and easy to put on and take off.
